Create Meals and Memories in Your Kitchen with These 6 Design Ideas

We all know that the kitchen is the heart of any home. It’s where we cook our best (and worst) meals, savor our favorite sips, make our biggest messes, and laugh with family and friends. Kitchen features and characteristics vary not only by the style and year in which the home was built, but also by the personal preferences of the previous homeowners.

An updated kitchen is one of the most sought-after features of any home on the market. While a great kitchen is a “must-have” for most homebuyers, some find themselves settling on a property that checks the majority of their wish list boxes with plans of renovating the kitchen to their liking at a later date.

In a recent interview, Ashley West, Designer and Product Specialist of B&T Kitchen & Baths, said, “Kitchens are trending away from cool grays to much warmer, earthy wood tones. We’re not just doing white kitchens anymore!” She also is seeing a big trend with polished golds and brass finishes quickly coming back into style. The pandemic has not only affected how homebuyers and sellers approach their new homeownership journey, but also those in the market for a remodel. “The Coronavirus has altered how we design kitchens. We are adding more options for a bar or prep sink in the island as an extra place for people to wash their hands without getting in the cook’s way”, said West. When trying to determine the cost of a potential kitchen remodel, West suggests calculating 10% of the home’s value as an estimation for a full kitchen redesign.
